BRING ME A MINSTREL

TO: CHORISTERS AND INSTRUMENTALISTS
I joined my church choir when I was in Primary school. I became born again and grew up to know the Lord: I experienced what it means to have an intimate relationship with Him beyond just following my mum to church.

I maintained a regular fellowship with the Lord and my life was filled with the joy of my salvation.

Fast forward to my University days, I got to know about the person of the Holy Spirit and baptism of the Holy Spirit.
I couldn’t but thank God that I didn’t die before the encounter; I could have ended up in hell fire.
The Holy Spirit opened my eyes to see through my childhood church choir…I saw myself with the eyes of God. We all thought we were serving God but on a contrary note, we were serving men.
The only thing that motivated us was the praises of men…we were singing to impress the people…we turned ourselves to entertainers. (We all love and seek approval but God’s approval is the best!
He reward us based on our heart, our motive with which we present our worship).
There was no LOVE among us.(Some people even believe that the devil has placed his seat right in the choir department.)
We saw one another as business rivals and competitors!
When you have to pretend your own microphone is not working because you don’t want to back up for the Lead! Envy, Grudges, bitterness, strife, hatred, gossips, cliques, etc

” But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.” Ephesians 4:7
” In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well….” Romans 12:6
Sexual immorality is another one like it, filthiness has drained up all the anointing made available to us for reasonable service and exploits.
Immorality within the choir.
The Lord opened my heart to the truth.
Thank God I have a second chance!
This revelation changed my life!

The Holy Spirit told me that I will minister and no one will be able to stand up and clap for me!
I was shocked! He said further…people will be blessed and calm under the influence of God’s presence! That is a ministration!

Not entertainment!
There is ministration and there is entertainment.
Why am I sharing this today?

I have a burden in my heart for some Months now; I am desperate for God’s manifest presence(God’s MOVE) in our church services.
I keep wondering: where is the power of God that moved among the disciples in the Upper Room @ Pentecost?

Has God changed? NO!
Why are some church gatherings becoming a routine and dry?

What’s happening? This burden is so much in my heart. I keep asking the Lord to purge and revive His church.
How do choristers and instrumentalists come in?
The Lord opened my heart to an amazing thing that happened when David was playing music in 1.Samuel 16:23. King Saul was a man under punishment from God for his disobedience. An evil spirit was sent by God to afflict him but he was always relieved whenever David minister to him.
Music is powerful!

It is a means of communication to God, it inspires our spirit, it tunes and connects our spirit to God, music of love and deep affection for God excites God and move Him to step down into our mist to wrought miracles.

Music is the food of the soul!
No wonder the Bible says God INHABITS the praises of His people. Psalm. 22:3.
David was not only an instrumentalist or singer, he was an ANOINTED ONE!
” Get the skills, Get the anointing. ”

Both are needful!
The anointing of God in his life account for why there was a relief for King Saul’s affliction.
Our present day church doesn’t host the believers alone but the unsaved too.

There are many church folks who are under the siege of the devil, many are covering their private struggles, many are covering their sicknesses and diseases with their cloth, many are hurting, many are heart broken…God wants to use us as vessels to minister to these souls! People will be healed! People will be blessed! Souls will be saved!

That’s a ministration!
Pastors will do their part but our ministration in songs should carry God’s power.

Have you ever read 2.Kings 3:15? Elisha ASKED for a MINSTREL to play before he minister and while this fellow (whose name was not mentioned but act outstanding) played, THE HAND OF GOD RESTED on Elisha and he started prophesying.  This power is made available to us too if we only wash our hands to receive the flow of the Holy Spirit.
“….BE YE HOLY THAT BEARS THE VESSELS OF THE LORD” Isaiah 52:11
“BLESSED ARE THE PURE IN HEART, FOR THEY SHALL SEE GOD” Matthew 5:8.
Purity is a secret to God’s presence!
How can we lead people into God’s presence if we have never been there? How is our personal life and fellowship with God?

Is our private life in line with our church life?

Are we what we sing in songs?
How will the Spirit move when we corrupt ourselves through sexual sins and others?
I can remember those times when the devil stopped me from taking microphone to sing during a service: he accused me of sexual filthiness(kissing and romance),
I saw myself kneeling down at the back of the auditorium weeping and seeking for God’s mercy and infilling of the Holy Spirit. God is merciful!

The Holy Spirit would take me over and wrap me in His arms of love thereafter I could minister and the atmosphere would be filled with His power.

I am not a singer! I am a Minister!
You have another chance today!
God’s vessels! Come back home to Jesus today for cleansing! Come with your filthiness, His blood is strong enough to wash you clean.
God wants to sanitise His church! He wants to set aside vessels that are without spot and wrinkles! He needs vessels to pour His Spirit into! God is still in the business of doing miracles! God needs you!
“..I will pour out my spirit on all mankind; and your sons and daughters shall PROPHECY….your young men shall see VISIONS” Joel 2:28.
Acts 1:8
This is the promise of God!

You are a minister to God!
Instrumentalists! Please I am not saying that you shouldn’t commercialise your talent but please don’t let money be your motivation! Most of us are no longer ready to play our instruments for free. What profit are you bringing back to God who has given you this gift? How useful are you in God’s vineyard? Some pastors are frustrated because they keep paying instrumentalist before they can play for a 2hour church service! Hmmm!
Some baby instrumentalists will find it hard to get to the top because they are too proud to play for free in the worship of the God who can take them to the top. Please read James 1:17
I advise you to try and be listening to the Messages too. Don’t just play instruments in the church and while away during the preaching.
Settle your relationship with Christ today.
“For the time is come that judgement must begin at the house of God…” 1. Peter 4:17.
Prepare yourself for your ministrations

Pray for God’s power for your ministry! Wait on the Lord!

A worship Minister must be a prayer champion!

Go to worship with an expectant heart too!
Shalom!
