Let us talk about purpose…

Okay I know there are lot of fine materials out there about purpose, (I am recommending materials from Rick Warren,Myles Munroe and Kenneth Hagin on the topic for a clear and balanced view) so I won’t be repeating all the basics there is to know about purpose rather I will focus on just one part.

Many people never sit down at anytime to ask the question or do any special prayers on ”Lord what is my purpose?” but they end up living a life of meaning and purpose.
While I am not in anyway watering down the importance of praying or sitting down to do a soul search of your life but I dare to say that many have never left this phase of analysing their lives. They are still waiting on answers and doing nothing.
Now the problem I have is the ‘doing nothing’ part of it. It is okay to wait on God to speak to you but I am sure he doesn’t expect you to be transfixed on a spot while you wait.
In Ecclesiastes 9:10, the scripture says “Whatsoever your hands finds to do, do it with all your heart…” God is still speaking to many of us like Moses “What is in your hands…?”
Don’t sit down and say you are expecting God to reveal His plan for your life. Whatsoever you can do, start doing it immediately. It is in the place of service that purpose is discovered.
God won’t expect you to give what you don’t have. Volunteer to serve in groups and ministries. Do whatever it is you can do. Consciously put yourself in the service arena.
I was asked by some mentees that how did I discover God’s purpose for my life. My answer was that I just started serving and praying that God should make it clear.
I did everything you can think of (wrote drama scripts and directed playlets, sang, served in technical department, cleaned the church etc) but I also saw that due to my background I can teach especially the Bible so I joined the Sunday School department.
From there God has clarified so many other things and till today I still seek God’s will on matters but while waiting for clarity I will do what my hands can do and tune my spirit to the Holy Spirit.
For some people it is an unquenchable burden in their heart. Go in this your might! Carry that fire to bring meaning to your world.
Start where you are, with what you have. Never sit idle while waiting, who knows that may just be the ultimate purpose of God for your life.
I hope this helps…if it did, share with your friends.
