Sexual Abuse Awareness

StopTheRape
@ohteehem speaks:
I was sexually abused at around age 9 by an elder sister in the neighbourhood and it planted a seed in my heart that took me years to overcome the effect and uproot the seed. I never told anyone not even my parent, as a matter of fact my siblings and many of my childhood friends will be hearing about this for the first time.
If it stopped with me, it would have been okay but it spiralled out of control and made me do crazy things that I am not proud of now and deeply sorry for. Even after I gave my life to Christ, I struggled with the effects until God finally helped me. If you have heard me speak on sexual issues at events, I am sure you know the details.
Sexual abuse is a traumatic experience. In the past year, I worked in Sagamu, Ogun state,Nigeria and every school I went, I met so many cases of sexual abuse and in particular rape.
During last year’s campaign and conference we handled so many cases that some of our team members were shedding tears.
In our line of work, we have been privilege to counsel so many people that have been a victim of rape but the alarming thing now is that rape particularly DATE-RAPE is now on the increase again.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t exclude people that claim to be Christians. One of our God’s Babes(teenage girls that we disciple) told us that she was almost raped INSIDE A CHURCH when she went for choir ‘practice’.

As far as our Ministry is concerned: news of another “rape” is a cut in the heart for us. It is a pointer to the fact that there are still many lives yet un-reached and discipled for Christ.
I think it is high time we begin to teach “daughters of God and vessels of exploits” about “wisdom rules” to help protect ourselves from “hungry wolves in beast and sheep clothing”
We have 3 cases of rape presently: one teenager raped by her neighbour, the second raped by her friend’s brother and the third raped by her boyfriend.
It saddens my heart to hear of God’s daughters being used, humiliated and abused this way.
So here is the way forward:

1. Watch your association especially close relations with the opposite sex. Watching how far you go with the opposite sex is not about having trust issues.
2. Watch your “wakabout”, careless and unnecessary visit in solitary or secluded places. Meet in open places
3. Lip sealed. Being a virgin is a thing of joy but as it appears now with this generation; keep your value under your loins. Even your female friends can set you up for rape. Your virginity is now a secret matter. May God guide you with wisdom to know when to disclose such information and with whom to.
4. Dress decently. Stop parading your meat before the cat.
5. Don’t drink alcohol because by the time you are tipsy you have presented your body for a free meal for predators.
6. Shun bad movies. When your love for movies is out of control; you will go watching it everywhere. Stop entering into bachelors’ quarter for movies. I could have been a victim of rape long ago if not for my “hatred for bad movies” watching porn movies with guys can ruin your life.
7. Stop or don’t keep a secret relationship: sneaking into your guy’s house.
8. Trust in the Lord,He will keep you
To anyone that has raped and/or still planning to rape: There is a seed in you that you need to uproot and it is only Jesus that can help you. God didn’t create you like this, you are better than being a rapist. God can help you, If you have raped someone before and you need help. Contact us.
If you have been raped before: we will like to tell you that it is not the end of the world…the God that helped me can also you as well. Don’t cover it up, come for counselling and we trust God to help you and turn this mess to a message.
