Jeremiah 2:8 “The priests said not, Where is the Lord? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and WAlKED AFTER THINGS THAT DO NOT PROFIT.”
I am sure the God of the Bible hasn’t changed and His purpose for sending Christ hasn’t changed too. The Holy spirit’s assignment too hasn’t been upgraded.
That is why I am wondering why the basic tenets of the gospel isn’t been preached anymore.
People are more interested in what they can get from God and it doesn’t matter how their life is…they want God to give them a life partner, good job, lots of money, kill their enemies and so on.
So they come for prayer meetings, marriage seminars, finance conferences etc and do some other religious activities like sowing seeds but the most important of all, their relationship with Christ, is given the least attention.
That is why someone can fast for 21days and when the fast is over, spend the whole weekend fornicating with their boy/girlfriend and both doesn’t feel they have done wrong. They will still go back to church for thanksgiving prayers for completion of the fast. There is no conviction of sin.
Religious activities are now more superior to the basic tenets of living a holy life these days.
Church is now like a club, where sales people socialise to get customers. There are more fun programmes where comedians take the pulpit than a call to righteousness and we quickly dismiss these narrowness by pointing to various prayer programmes that we hold.
This mis-direction has produced un-baked and half baked christians that can’t stand little opposition either from the devil or the world. They are easily shaken off when trials come. They haven’t been prepared to walk with God through the waters and the fire.
Religious activities are not bad in themselves but when it is prioritised above developing a relationship with God then it becomes a real problem.
When the pastor is more interested in my tithe than my relationship with God, there is a big problem.
It is high time we ask ourselves, “Are we really serving God or just having programmes to build a social gathering?”
Also personally ask yourself “Am I a product of a church/programme or a disciple of Jesus?”
Reflect!
