Mercy

Book Study: Romans 9: 9-16

Paul enumerated why the Israelites are the chosen of God.
“Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises; Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came,…”

They had the oracles of God, they know everything about the messiah and they lived a very pious life. They have an unquenchable desire to obey the laws of God but they were still unqualified.

Theologians argue till tomorrow on why God chose Jacob over Esau but I am not interested in knowing why, I just desire that he should have mercy on me too.

He said I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy. He said it is not of him that willeth or runneth but of God that sheweth mercy.

It is not because he can fast and pray, not because he pays tithe, not because he can preach even though all those things are important and shouldn’t be left undone but it is the mercy of God that gives meaning to those things.

When God showers mercy on a man, everything will work out for him easily.

–Ask God, father let me enjoy your mercy in every area of my life.
–Things that are hard for others let it be easy for me.
–By your mercy put an end to struggle in my life
–Have mercy on me o Lord.
