The Threshing Floor Bible Studies Study Focus: Steps to Spiritual Maturity Topic: The disciple’s lifestyle (4)

Study: Luke 9:23-25 and verse 62

Burning the ships that will keep our gaze at the past is so important because the devil can only bring from our past to lure us into sin, he can’t control our future. Our future is controlled by the choices we make today.
I will still implore us to look at our lives and at those things that are linked to our sinful life and dispose them. Don’t be deceived that you are strong enough now. Cut off people that can lure you into sin…cut off alliances and replace them with ones that will take you to your desired future. God won’t do it for you. Your future is in your hands. BE WISE.

We will continue the study of Luke 9:23, “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, AND TAKE UP HIS CROSS DAILY and follow me.”

What a call! Taking our cross daily. I think the best way to see the import of the DAILY part is to imagine everyday as the last day of your life. How will you live if you know today is the last day that you have on earth? What will be your sole aim? What is that thing that you will do without wasting time?

Then the instruction “..take up his cross..” There are many interpretation to the cross Jesus was referring to but we can simply understand it when we look at the life of Jesus himself.
What was his own cross? To do the will of the father which is “provide a permanent solution to the problem of sin through his death and resurrection.”

Daily he took up his cross till the very end. He instructs us to do the same, whatever cross that has been given to us, let us carry it daily till the very end.

Commitment: “Daily I will take up my cross and I will follow him from now till the end.”

@ohteehem…committed to 2 Timothy 2:2
