Wise choices
“Can Jesus really save me?” Mercy asked Mrs Eniola James.
This is the second time in a week that she will be sitting down with her but this time it was different. She was in tears and crying to God for help.
“Yes, Jesus can save you infact he has done that already. You have confessed your sins and repented, he has forgiven you.” Mrs Eniola James replied.
“Now that you have decided to live a life that is pleasing to God you are a new creature, old things have passed away and all things have become new and I mean all things.”
“Salvation is a work of God that no man can rationalise. It is a work of grace.”
“Thank you very much ma. What should I do now?” Mercy asked.
“From this evening you are going to face a conflicts of choice. Your body will raise a battle against you, your friends and loved ones will misunderstand you, the society will try to distract you but you must stick with your decision. Scriptures speaks in Eph 6:13, the latter part says ‘Having done all STAND.”
“Stick with your decision. Go home and do away with everything that lures you back into old life, let the scenery of your life change, associate with new people, change where you go to regularly”
“They will call you a fanatic tell them you will rather be a fanatic than a lunatic living a godless life.”
“The next thing you must do is to make a plan to develop your relationship with God. Even in God’s kingdom; if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Many christians don’t want to fall but they don’t have a plan to stand.” Mrs Eniola James concluded.
“What do you mean by planning to stand ma?” Mercy asked.
“It is to be prepared with a ready made answer on the day that the enemy comes. For example look at Jesus, when he was tempted by the devil, it wasn’t that day he learnt the scriptures he used to overcome the enemy, It was already in him.”
“In your case now, when you feel the urge to smoke, masturbate or fornicate what will be your answer to that temptation? What wise action will you take when all the feelings come?”
When an old fling comes by to lure you into your old life, what will be your response?
“How will you develop your relationship with the word of God, prayers and fasting, etc? When will be your personal devotion time? Instead of the club, where will you be going? How will you spend your idle time?”
“These are questions that you need to answer and state them as your blueprint to living a victorious life.”
“Wow what a great exposition!” Mercy said using the back of her hands to clean off the tears on her face.
“Mercy, I was an addict but God delivered me. I am certain God will deliver you too.”
“Amen, ma. Thank you so much.”
” We can’t exhaust our discussion here tonight, I still have quite a number of people waiting to see me. I am inviting you to my life class on Saturday by 9am, we will be able to talk more and put into practical steps all our discussions this evening.”
“I will be there won’t miss it for anything.” Mercy replied.
“Let us pray. Father I commit your child into your hands, she has made a decision to live to please you, I ask that you help her. As she takes practical steps to live a holy life, please be her strength. In the days of temptation, help her to take the way of escape. She will not fail, she will not fall, in Jesus name we have prayed.”
