I had an encounter with a Nigerian man that claimed he is a Jew and I listened as he publicly distorted the christian faith. What got me worried was the fact that many so called Christians that stood with us became confused on what to believe.
They were beginning to doubt everything they heard in church or read in the Bible. The man completely mesmerized them and they looked like sheep being led to the slaughter.
Even when he mentioned that the name Jesus was evil and giving them all kinds of formula and quoting all kinds of scriptures, they still couldn’t discern that what he was saying is completely false.
As I went back to the office, the Holy Spirit said ‘A time will come when you will need to contend for your faith’ and this extend to all of us but how can we contend for our faith if we are not grounded in the basic tenets of our faith?
Many are confused about salvation by faith in Jesus, the doctrine of trinity, the virgin birth, the death and resurrection of Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the reality of the spiritual realm and the existence of heaven and hell.
If all what we teach and learn in churches is how to make a better life on earth and not grounded in the basics of the kingdom, then we are really missing it.
How can we fulfill the great commission if we don’t know what the commission is all about? Now I see why the scriptures said that “…many will depart from the faith.”
Examine yourself with these questions to know if you are grounded in the faith or not:
1.Is Jesus the messiah? Can you explain it clearly to someone?
2. Is Jesus God? Can you explain it clearly to someone?
3. Was Jesus conceived of the Holy Spirit?
4. Do you believe in trinity? Can you explain it clearly to someone?
5. Did Jesus died for our sins and resurrected on the third day?
6. Is the Holy Spirit a force or a person?
7. What is your understanding of heaven and hell?
8. Is the Bible the word of God?
9. Is Jesus the only way to God? Or we are all serving the same God?
10. Is God real at all or just a figment of some people’s imagination.
Do you understand all the above listed issues and can you explain it?
If not, why not do a personal study on the above questions and ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate you.
