… marriage is a lot of things but two things stand out for me, “marriage is a choice” “marriage is commitment”.
That we are in love means that we have made our choice and we are committed to our choice.
So one day like that in the first year of our wedding, I can’t even remember what happened but I and my wife had some disagreements and both of us were angry. She decided to step out and cool off….
I just stood up from where I was seating, stayed at the door and said there is no going out…let us talk about this and pray.
Our mantra is “let us pray.” It is one of the cards out of many that we use when there are issues to resolve.
I know she won’t pray and still be angry at the same time
Even though I was angry but I just had to take the step to resolve this and we have done this so many times in several ways.
In planning on how to resolve conflict in marriages, you must set up structures that will puncture the conflict balloon anytime it inflates.
We have so many and “let us pray” is one of them, another is our commitment to speaking to our mentors…we will get into others at SMTO2022.
Even when the flesh is saying act otherwise but you remember that your commitment is to make this marriage work, enjoy yourself and be a blessing to the world, you commit to the process.
During our courtship, we had one major disagreement, after resolving it, we discussed about it and both of us said that during the disagreement, it never for once crossed our minds to break up.
Right from courtship, there was commitment to making it work.
And that is the mindset to have from the beginning.
…we will be teaching more about this and other matters at Singles and Married Timeout 2022…
We will be ministering alongside Pastor Mildred Kingsley-Okonkwo, Pastor Yinka Ojo and Minister Odunayo Adebayo.
