Breaking New Grounds: Acts of Faith

Heb 12: 1 – end

Faith is a heart response to the word of God which propels you into action in the direction of the word of God received.

Faith is an action word not a passive word.

Faith is not mental assent. That is just agreeing in your head that something is true.

So when we make declarations by the Spirit that this year, we are Breaking New Grounds…we are declaring that we will be taking steps of faith in response to the word of God that we have received.

We are expecting great things from God and we are attempting great things for God.

If we look at Hebrews 12, that is our passage for this study, we will realize that all those hall of faith heros listed didn’t just agreed in their head but took steps in response to the word of God that they received.

Let us examine some of them:

1. VS 4: Abel: He offered to God a better sacrifice

2. V5: Enoch: He walked with God by faith and so doing he pleased God. Gen 5:24

3. VS 7: Noah: He moved with godly fear and he prepared the ark.

4. VS 8: Abraham:

– He obeyed and left his father’s house.

5. VS 11: Sarah and Abraham: They held on to the promises of God and they continued having sexual relations.

6. Vs 17 Abraham offered up Isaac

7. Vs 20 Isaac and Jacob placed a blessing

8. VS 22, Joseph said they should not bury him in Egypt because he was sure the people of Israel would leave.

…and we can go on and on.

What we saw mostly was that they responded to a word or a side of God that they saw.

So bringing it home…

1. What word of God have you received for this season of your life that you must act on…

2. What side of God have you encountered that will propel you to take actions of faith.

Nothing moves until you take steps of faith.

What should you do now:

1. Find the word of God to be acted upon in this season of your life

2. Meditate on the received word until it is implanted in your spirit

3. Release power to bring the word to life. Power is voice activated.

4. Surround the word received with a company of faith.

– People of faith
– A life devoid of carnality and sin

5. Take action irrespective of the circumstances.

6. Stay determined and focused.

7. Stay in communication with the Holy Spirit.
