As I bowed my knees to pray this morning, the Holy Spirit told me “…I am the Lord of your journey…”
After a moment, I remembered an incident which happened when I was still living under my mom’s roof. I was cooking in the kitchen and as I was entering the room; the Lord gave me a Word which has impacted my life till today. The word came at a time I was under pressure and almost losing my cool. I can’t remember the name of the Pastor who was ministering on the TV that beautiful day, I just heard him saying, “Your next miracle is in the place of your assignment…” That word hit me like a blow on my face as I pushed past the curtain and stepped into the room.
This is how I know when God is speaking to me; A sudden quietness and peace rushes my heart. So, I sat down and kept brooding on the Word “My next miracle is in the place of my assignment”
The next two big things for my life at the time was marriage and a very good job. After my prayers and meditation the Lord told me that my next miracle is marriage and I’ll get settled at my duty post; MY MINISTRY. I’ll tell you more about this experience later cos this is not the heart of this message. #Smiling
Eventually, it was kingdom service that attracted me to friendship with my husband and if I had suspended my vision because I was eager to be married; I doubt we would be close friends let alone considering each other for marriage. Our chief topic of discussion for the two years we were friends was on vision casting and seeking advice from each other.
The word lighted upon me. Marriage met me at my duty post. I was busy running my course when the love of my life, Teminikan came. #Smiling
In the early days of my marriage, the Lord sent me a word through my mentor Pst Muyiwa Olufemi, “…Whatever wind that blows you must never blow you away from the place of your assignment…” I am not so sure he remembers saying anything like that to me. My spirit is always alert when I am with my mentors. #Laughing.
Hey, this small girl has seen many storms in 6years yet I am so in the place of my assignment. My life is a big wonder to me. The more I go through stuffs the more beautiful and stronger I come out. #Dancing.
If there’s anything I’m guarding jealously is my love for God, no matter the wind blowing me ehn it must never touch that spot. I am so deliberate and intentional about this one thing.
The more the blows, the more I go after what matters most to me: my pursuit of God and my pursuit for God.
Obviously the devil has realized the more he pushes stuffs my way the more passionate I become about my kingdom Service. You know sometimes I do laugh like “Omo Esther Yi o ni ironu Sha” like I don’t think. #Laughing
This brings me to the story of Elizabeth and Zechariah in the book of Luke. Oh my goodness! I don’t know how God copes with me. Do you know that I hated to read this story as a teenager. #Laughing.
I couldn’t understand why bad thing has to happen to good people. Let’s read few verses:
“It all begins with a Jewish priest, Zechariah, who lived when Herod was king of Judea. Zechariah was a member of the priestly order of Abijah. His wife, Elizabeth, was also from the priestly line of Aaron. Zechariah and Elizabeth were righteous in God’s eyes, careful to obey all of the Lord’s commandments and regulations. They had no children because Elizabeth was barren, and now they were both very old.” Luke 1:5-7 NLT
#Lobatan. I mean I was displeased like why should Elizabeth and Zechariah not have a child despite their right standing with God. The only lesson my young converted heart could pick then was that sometimes in life, the blows and the winds don’t come because one has sinned against God. Thank God light bursted on my heart few years later as my understanding of the scripture improved.
Here’s the interesting verse:
“One day Zechariah was serving God in the Temple, for his order was on duty that week.” NLT
“And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest’s office before God in the order of his course,” KJV
In the Biblical times, the priest is the mediator between man and God. He takes care of the Lord’s house and to raise sheep and lambs for the daily sacrifice and welcome any sinner who came to the Lord to ask forgiveness. The Priests represented what Jesus would do for us before God the Father and a template for our priesthood after Redemption
You know, Zechariah could have backed out through discouragement and failed expectations. See, I can write you volumes on what it feels like fetching to quech the thirst of others while you are thirsty yourself. Zechariah was faithful still. The wind of barrenness didn’t blow him off his duty post, his place of assignment. Many lives were waiting on his priesthood and he didn’t disappoint God because of an unmet need in his life and Marriage.
” According to the custom of the priest’s office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.
And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.” Vs 9-10 KJV
Zechariah’s miracle met him at his duty post! His definite encounter happened in the place of his assignment.
The expectation of the righteous will never be cut short. Eventually the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth turned around. As pronounced by the Angel of God, they had a son, John The Baptist.
At the end, it became so obvious that from the beginning of the script God is never wicked. He had a plan; He was cooking His kingdom agenda and John The Baptist, the child of Zechariah & Elizabeth was ordained to play a crucial part in all of it. How much good would John The Baptist would have been if he had been born much earlier than when Heaven’s stage was set for the birth of Jesus Christ, to whom John would play a fore runner.?
Have you seen a Governor’s Entourage travel far ahead before his own car follows after? No, his Entourage moves and his car moves behind instantly. #Smiling.
When you prepare a field for farming and you delay in planting your seed; grasses will take it over.
So, God didn’t need John The Baptist 2-5 decades before Jesus was born. #Interesting
Zechariah and Elizabeth had their child JUST AT THE RIGHT TIME.
1. No matter what life throws at you, guard your love-zone for God
2. Let your miracle meet you in your place of assignments. Do not allow discouragement retire you from your duty post.
3. Enjoy all the part of your life being played out as video skits, in no time, you will realize it’s all one season movie all together and one story.
4. God has a plan bigger than what you are thinking. Trust Him.
5. There are lives waiting upon your mandate and your miracles. Don’t disappoint God. It goes beyond your joy.
6. Let not fire go out of your altar, burn your incense after your course, and embrace your priesthood. God must be your pursuit.
I have had people telling me that I am strong. I just laugh. I am not strong. There is a difference between a strong person and a stubborn person who just won’t put her sword down. I am the latter. Over again no matter how tired, Pick the sword up, pick the sword up! Get moving. God’s gat your back.
You are so wondering why God isn’t passing you through the shortest route to your miracle, read Exodus 13:17
“When Pharaoh finally let the people go, God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised Land. God said, “If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.”
Trust The One who sees the end from the beginning. Go forward! Get Going was God’s response to their wailings.#smiling.
I hope you are blessed.
