…one of my favorite memory from my childhood was my parents taking us (I and my siblings) to different interesting Christian events with other christian families.
I grew up attending Scripture union fellowships, Easter and long vacation camps…I also remembered attending Mount Zion Stage Plays where Mike Bamiloye will always paint chalk on his face and all…sister Gloria was the singer…
I also remember vigils that we attended with our parents in homes of some members of Scripture Union…some of them are reading this post right now.
The love among them is amazing…the community they shared… everyone celebrated and mourned together. If one gave birth, they were all there…if someone died, they were all there.
You can count on this Christian community for anything, they supported one another. There wasn’t competition…they were all brothers and sisters…and that is what they still call one another till date.
I grew up among these amazing people.
…even though it took some years for me to come to know Christ as my personal Lord and savior but the seeds have been planted from childhood without any doubt whatsoever, I knew how to be saved and what it means to be a child of God.
In due time, I got saved and God’s grace has been helping since then but one major lesson that never left me was the kind of Christian community my parents shared with other christians and we were raised in that community…
As a believer, it is important that you belong to a community of believers like this and be intentional about putting yourself there. You can’t do this life alone…God didn’t design you to do your life alone.
God loves community, he doesn’t like aloneness and he designed us that way…it is Satan that likes isolating people and it is to the end that he destroys them.
Aside all the emotional support that a community like this give you…it helps you remain strong in your faith. You grow along with people that understands your faith and you see them go through everything that you are going through and see them come out stronger.
Your children also have natural models to look up to, they can see practical Christianity in operation and this will impact them more than teachings. A culture of strong christian heritage is a blessing to pass on to your children.
I know that there are various issues in our generation now that people complain about but there were issues then as well but they were resolved as brethren. Everyone generally understood clearly that they are all on a journey to becoming and they were very graceful. They are not perfect as it were in all their ways, they were just graceful.
This is one of the lessons I saw in my parent’s marriage that I replicated immediately I started leading a ministry…more than an organization, we must be a family…we must have a culture of strong godly families.
Our marriages must be one that will be examples unto others. We must build homes that are cities of refuge for the hurting. We must raise children in an atmosphere of love and devotion to God.
When you are going for a Christian event like this SMTO2022 coming up, I know you want a ME time with your spouse but please do not leave your children at home. The child that you left at home may just have the devil as a guest while you are away enjoying God…A VERY IMPORTANT LESSON.
I know it is a lot of sacrifices, please take them along…expose them to a Christian community, this is also part of their upbringing. They will see how people love and honor God and it will register in their subconscious and over the years it will bring fruits of righteousness.
All the Bible I know today, 80% of it I knew it before I was ten…thanks to an intentional christian family.
It doesn’t matter how you were raised, you can make a decision to be better and you must learn to be better.
For the sake of the next generation, you cannot keep blaming the past, you can start affecting the future now by BUILDING THE RIGHT WAY NOW!!! BUILD IT TO LAST!!!
