The Threshing Floor Bible Studies Study Focus: Spiritual Operations Topic: The Perfect Deliverance (2)

Study: Mathew 12:43-45

Last lesson we started the discussion on the perfect deliverance and we will continue this time.

The second extreme view is “you have to keep going for deliverance as you are exposed to demons now and again in our daily affairs.”

As a Christian that has committed to his life to Christ, baptised in the Holy Spirit and living a holy life, it is impossible to be bound/possessed by the devil again even though you can come under attack from the enemy but this is not a matter for deliverance but a matter of taking the battle to the enemy’s gate. They are two different things and I think this is where people mix everything up.

Spiritual warfare is different from spiritual deliverance. While deliverance is a spiritual operation that destroys legal and non legal rights of the devil, spiritual warfare is taking an offensive/defensive attack against the devil.

We have seen people perpetually bound to going for deliverance, it has become something similar to taking pills for pain reliever. So many churches have turned this to a big merchandise selling all kinds of deliverance materials and organising all kinds of programme.

This is the height of spiritual ignorance and can even be likened to witchcraft (witchcraft is just a spirit that manipulates people to do their bidding).

While what we have discussed above about the impossibility of being bound again after being born again, baptised in the Holy Ghost and living a holy life holds true, we must however note that if someone puts his hand into sin he will open his life to what is described in Matt 12:44-45

44 Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order.
45 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.”

Sin is a legal right for demons to attack or start operation in someone’s life again and that is why we must immediately retrace our step back to God if we find out that we have sinned.

Question for discussion: Who needs deliverance an unbeliever or a born again child of God?
