Study: Mathew 4:17-22
We continue our study looking at verse 20 of the passage we are studying.
” And they straightaway left their nets, and followed him.”
The call was made in verse 19, the two brothers heard it and STRAIGHTAWAY LEFT THEIR NETS.
They had a choice to make: stick with nets or leave the nets and follow him. This man isn’t talking of how they will survive but how he will make them to fish for men. It doesn’t sound attractive but thank God they chose right.
The nets are important for their past and present but the call is important for their future and eternity.
What he requires is total commitment to Him.
What are the nets holding you back from answering his call? Sin,fear,past failure,success? What is it?
God is calling you to a full time discipleship with Him. Your future and eternity depends on it.
I am not talking of the call to full time ministry here, I am talking of the call to a closer walk with God…a call to becoming all God wants you to be. It is in that place that the grace of God can work easily for you.
No one is left out! When that rich young ruler came to Jesus and he told him to do away with everything that he has and follow him, it was a test of WHERE IS YOUR HEART?
Don’t let your fear, success or failure hold you down. Leave all the nets and follow Jesus.
Prayer: Lord I will follow you closely for the rest of my life.
