Study: Luke 9:23-25 and verse 62
We continue our study on growing to spiritual maturity by looking at the disciple’s lifestyle, in our previous studies we emphasised that the call to discipleship is for everyone.
We also mentioned that we mustn’t hesitate in responding to the call and also noted that it is good to have earthly spiritual fathers but the person we are following is JESUS and no one else.
In our text of today Luke 9, verse 23 says “…if any man will come after me..”
What does it mean to come after Jesus? We can simply say it means if any man will be Jesus’s disciple which is very correct but also I see an open to cheque to ANY man to walk into a dimension of grace that Christ walked while here on earth.
Remember he said “…greater works shall ye do.” It means any man that can fulfil the conditions for discipleship will have access to what Jesus had access to. Jesus can take him hand in hand to the father and reveal great and mighty things to him.
If any man, are you the man? Are you the woman? That wants to say Lord I am ready.
The reason many of us live a life devoid of spiritual experience is because we have not consciously taken responsibility for our spiritual growth. We have remained stagnant and have confined ourselves to the routine religious activities.
The devil is happy with such Christians but God is saying “come up higher there is more.”

Prayer: Lord take ME higher in you. Break the hold of fleshy desires in me.
