Study: Luke 9:23-25 and verse 62
We continue our study in Luke 9:23. Yesterday we emphasised that DAILY we must take up our CROSS. The cross may not be convenient but if it is what God has required of us, as disciples we don’t have a choice but to carry it like our master also did.
So we must carry our cross daily and FOLLOW HIM. We have discussed a lot about following Jesus in our previous studies. Obedience is the key word in followership…you must be committed to timely obedience.
No religious activity can replace it. To obey is better than sacrifice.
Following HIM faithfully will cost us so many things but can it be compared to having God by your side? Can it be compared to God calling us his beloved? Can it be compared to God releasing his power on us? Nothing can be compared to God.
I read a story of a young man and his girlfriend, they both attended a church programme and during the service he was convicted of sin and wanted to surrender his life to Christ but the girlfriend prevented him.
She said “What will now happen to me? She convinced him and they both left the church before the service ended and they were crossing the road right in front of the church an overspeeding car hit this young man and died instantly but the girl escaped. So she came back into the church crying and asked for forgiveness.
That young man died and ended up in hell because he considered the cost of displeasing his sinful girlfriend too great for his eternal destiny.
What are you holding unto that is preventing you from FOLLOWING JESUS? What are you struggling with? Deal with it today before it condemns you eternally.
Prayer: everything in my life o Lord that is preventing me from following you, take it away. I surrender all!
