Study: Luke 9: 1-6
We are still studying the book of Luke 9 and our focus is steps to spiritual maturity. Today we are looking at verse 1 to 6.
Jesus had been going from one place to the other preaching the gospel and healing the sick. He took the disciples with him everywhere he went, they experienced first-hand how he did everything that he did. His style of preaching, how he prayed, how he healed the sick etc They were always with him.
Correct discipleship is about becoming like Jesus in every area of our lives.
He gave them their first major practical lesson, they were to go to the towns without him and do the same thing he has been doing.
Why did he send them alone? He knew they would succeed him and theory isn’t enough. They need to do it so that he can correct them and correctly prepare them for the task ahead.
In our walk as disciples, lessons will be coming from the Holy spirit regularly to prepare us for the high calling of God for our lives and we must take those lessons for us to move ahead. If we fail we may not have the opportunity to become the best God wants us to be.
