We all agree that reacting negatively when angry isn’t Christ’s way, as believers, we must act gracefully.
Even though in our flesh it won’t be easy but we must make the decision in advance
We will decide before the situation happens by the help of the Holy Spirit “I will not react when angry.”
This our decision backed up by the Spirit will be our code of conduct. We must act like Christ.
As you calmly react Christ’s way the peace of God will flood your heart
Even if you will go back home and cry telling God that you are angry…act gracefully.
You are teaching your mind the word of God…you are renewing your mind.
You are looking at what Christ did for you even when you didn’t deserve it and you are saying I will forgive.
This is love in action
Christ could have displayed his power but he chose to do it God’s way.
We cannot keep saying that is who I am, that is my weakness…if you are a believer you are a new creature, you can live as a new creature.
You are not under the control of your flesh. You have the spirit of God inside of you. So act like Christ. Act in accordance to the will of God for you.
Coupled with this is also unforgiveness. You cannot hold someone in your heart and refuse to forgive them.
They may have hurt you badly but think of how you hurt Christ as well. If God was to refuse to forgive you for every time that you hurt him.
You don’t forgive the person because they deserve it but because even when you didn’t deserve it…Christ forgave you.
Unforgiveness holds you back…it shows you haven’t understood the forgiveness of Christ.
Christ wiped your slate clean! He doesn’t remember everything you ever did.
He deleted it and also went into the recycle bin and deleted it there.
If you understand this…it will be easier for you to forgive anyone that offends you. Because you have been forgiven much, I will also forgive.
It may hurt your flesh but it will mature your spirit and it is better that your flesh is hurt
I want us to imagine the sight of Christ tonight…he stood there in ragged clothes… Blood stained…whipped with blood dripping from his brow…he was spat on…Insulted but he refused to say anything! Just because of you and I!
He saw the host of angels all around him but he didn’t command them to act in His behalf because of you and i. He suffered the insults and shame
He didn’t reply… He didn’t tell them…let me just show you a bit of my power. All because of you.
Every time the whip landed on his back he saw you…every time someone spat on him..he saw you. He cried…he wept…he groaned…he spat blood…but he didn’t say anything. It wasn’t palatable to his flesh but he did it so that you can be redeemed.
Why shouldn’t you act in the same way to that fellow that hurt you…why will you say I wont forgive him/her…Why will you harbour bitterness in your heart…Why will say over my dead body…I will do my own back.
Why will you get angry at the slightest provocation? Why won’t you say…I release you because of Christ.
Maybe there is someone in here tonight that needs to tell Christ…Lord I am sorry I didn’t act like you in the way I handle that matter sometime ago.
Lord I want to release everyone in my heart that I have refused to truly forgive. Even though I said I am not angry again but I know I am bitter against them.
Will you like to say I release them?
