My love story..OTM falls in love

It was just another day. I sat at my desk in my office and thought of how to spend my val.

I thought of going out to see a movie but then a cinema is not fun when you are alone. I got there before I realised that.

I went to KFC and with the intention of ‘spoiling’ myself with their delicacies but when I got there, the crowd was so much, had to leave.

I did a little window shopping inside the mall.

Then after getting tired and val was turning a very boring day for me I decided to go home and have a good sleep.

As I was leaving the Ikeja City Mall, I saw a man with two little fine girls standing by the bus stop. He was looking frustrated and confused.

Well in the spirit of val, I decided to ask what the matter was.

I greeted him and ask if the two girls are his, he replied in the affirmative and said they are twins but not identical.

I chatted a little with the girls and asked where he was going, he said Ogba but he doesnt have money for transport and the girls are so hungry.

I asked where their mother was. He said she died a week ago and every year before she died they had spent their val with the girls at the Marwa gardens.

To make the girls happy and to tell his wife, if she is looking at him wherever she is that he will never forget her. That is why he decided to bring the girls again this year to Marwa gardens. But somehow the money he budgeted for transport got missing. They had to trek from that place to the bus stop.

I asked the girls, did they enjoy themselves today? They chorused yes but said they don’t have money to go back home.

I brought out some money and bought popcorn from a hawker for the girls and gave the man some money.

I got a bike for them and paid the fare home.

I stood there for some minutes and faced the mall. Hundreds of cars trooping in to the compound, and no one noticed a man with two girls at the gate that lacks transport fare back home.

Our defintion of love is crooked, we are selfish and unsacrificing.

A man lost his wife a week ago but decided to take his little kids to enjoy val.

All I could say to myself was ‘hmm’…as i trekked down to Magodo second gate. I felt fulfilled and thought I must redefine my definition of love.
